Coach Peyton Stovall
Player Development Coach

Coach Peyton Stovall

Peyton Stovall, Ball State Hall of Famer, was known as much for his involvement on campus and in the community as he was for his impressive play on the court. During his final season at Ball State, Stovall was one of 10 finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award in men's basketball and one of five finalists among all sports nationwide for the Coach John Wooden Citizenship Cup.

Despite a pair of knee injuries that threatened to derail his career, Stovall racked up 1,383 points from 2003-08, finishing his time ninth on the Cardinals' all-time scoring list. He led the team with 16.7 points per game during his sophomore campaign. Stovall started 113 of the 120 games in which he appeared, completing his career second on Ball State's all-time lists for minutes played (3,870) and 3-pointers made (163). He was also sixth in program history in both assists (349) and steals (163) upon his graduation.

In high school, he finished his career with over 1,300 points and was selected as a Junior All-Star, and as a senior, named to the Indiana All-Star team.

Currently serving as an Associate Athletics Director at Purdue University, Peyton has built a career centered on leadership, accountability, and excellence. He translates those traits into the gym, where he emphasizes fundamentals like ball handling, passing, defense, and decision-making, while teaching players how to be “easy to play with and hard to guard.” His commitment goes beyond skill instruction, preparing athletes to grow as competitors, teammates, and leaders with strong character and work ethic both on and off the court.

Coaching Style: Focused on fundamentals, consistency, and helping players build confidence through preparation and repetition.

Why I Coach: I enjoy helping athletes grow and seeing their hard work translate into success in games.
